Plein Air Painting Workshops with Cindy Briggs
Plein Air Painting Workshops
Plein air painting workshops are on top of my list of favorite things to teach. I’ve been all over, painting beaches, seascapes, cityscapes and landscapes.
Provence
When living in Provence, I went to Senanque Abbey to paint, one of the most serene places I’ve ever painted; beautiful, peaceful, and filled with the wonderful scent of lavender from the surrounding fields and sounds of the monks singing.
It was, indeed, an inspiring place to paint.
Carmel-by-the-Sea
For over 20 years I’ve been visiting Carmel-by-the-Sea to paint beaches, seas, flowers, and vineyards, up in the valley. I love coming back to this place especially in the fall. The last few years, Santa Barbara has been a great place paint with its architecture, vineyards, beaches and botanical gardens.
I recently shared my experience painting seascapes through my online painting workshop called Watercolors By-the-Sea.
Park City, Utah
Park City, Utah is also one of my favorite locations to teach and paint. Here, you get to see majestic peaks surrounding this historical, charming city. There are simply a lot of breathtaking subjects out here, and I capture them in my watercolor sketchbooks.
I teach one day workshops there with the Kimball Art Center, and offer 3 or 4 day workshops in the summer. One of my favorite locations is the classic white McPolin Barn which offers so many wonderful points-of-view.
Tuscany
I just returned from teaching a plein air workshop in dreamy Tuscany. We had 12 wonderful people join us from the US in this French Escapade/Make Every Day A Painting workshop.
I always say this was the best ever. Nothing like staying at the historical Medici estate, painting the surrounding vineyards and olive tree orchards. I’m creating an online program called “Paint Tuscany” to continue the experience and share it with those who want a taste of Tuscany through my artistic eyes.
My next Plein Air painting workshop is in Palm Desert this January with Theresa Goesling. It will be fun to find new subjects to paint.
French Riviera
We may return to Park City next summer and have a few spots left in our Medieval
Villages of France workshop near the French Riviera.
If you’re interested, please visit my website to sign up and join us. While exploring the sights, I’ll show you the beauty of plein air painting and teach you how to effectively capture the shapes and colors that you see right before you.
It will be a grand experience because you’ll be sharing it with other watercolor artists of all levels.
Let’s learn from each other, share experiences together, and create beautiful watercolor paintings as part of our personal stories.
