Discover how to easily draw with free flowing lines and confidently mix and mingle flowing translucent watercolors. Using fine point markers and transparent watercolor, you will see how quickly you can create exciting spontaneous small paintings, quick studies and journal entries. With two sessions you'll have time to experiment, expand your skills, and explore your own style as you get into the flow of creating. This class is great for all levels of experience. Create your own field of sun learning how to paint with flowing watercolors while exploring positive and negative space, mixing a range of color values, and capturing sunlight with your paintbrush. Discover how to paint a child's portrait as you explore skin tone color mixing, blending to capture the form of the face, painting beautiful eyes, depicting hair, and pulling it all together to capture the child's personality. A tracing is provided to make it easy.

Virtually visit the colorful island of Burano, a ferry ride away from Venice. We will focus on painting colorful sunlit walls and mesmerizing reflections as we explore the village. You will learn how to capture light with your paintbrush as paint sunlight, reflective light, and colorful shadows. Then, we'll utilize the colors above and reflect them into the water. If you venture outside the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, you discover a walkway filled with marble statues of Renaissance masters including Michelangelo, da Vinci, and Ravello. Bring a bit of Italy to your artwork as you learn to capture the likeness of a sunlit sculpture in watercolors. In the first class, paint the likeness of the master sculptor Michelangelo and explore how dramatic sunlight and layered shadows can give a watercolor painting a sense of dimension. In the second, paint Leonardo da Vinci’s statue along with the instructor, or work from your own photo of a sculpture.
