The Italian seaside villages of the Cinque Terre offer a kaleidoscope of colorful subjects, including charming historic buildings and tree-covered hills that slope toward a turquoise sea. Working from images of the village of Vernazza, students discover how to capture the essence of a complex scene as they paint. They may employ a tracing or draw their scene prior to class. There is also time to paint the graphic sunlit-patterned umbrellas of the beaches of Monterosso al Mare.
