Cindy Briggs & Theresa Goesling have taught a dozen watercolor workshops with French Escapade since 2016 across the U.S. and Europe.
Trip Overview
Day 1 – Arrival & Welcome
Meet at the Strasbourg train station at 2:00 PM for a scenic drive to a traditional Alsatian village. Settle into your hotel, enjoy the pool, explore the village, or stroll through nearby vineyards. Celebrate your arrival with a welcome reception and gourmet dinner.
Days 2–6 – Painting & Exploration
Paint in picturesque villages and at the Alsace Open-Air Museum, featuring beautifully preserved 19th–20th century buildings. Instruction alternates between plein air and indoor sessions, with demos and one-on-one guidance.
Subjects include:
- Half-timbered medieval architecture
- Colorful facades rich with cultural symbolism
- Vineyards, rolling hills, and castle-topped landscapes
- Intimate vignettes suited to every skill level
You’ll also enjoy:
- Strasbourg canal cruise (UNESCO World Heritage site)
- Wine tasting (possibly paired with chocolate!)
- Regional cuisine including flammekueche, baeckeoffe, pretzels, and bredele cookies
Day 7 – Studio Time & Farewell Dinner
Complete unfinished paintings, prepare for the afternoon Show & Share, and celebrate your creative journey together. End the week with a memorable farewell dinner.
Day 8 – Departure
After breakfast, transfer to the Strasbourg train station around 10:30 AM. You’ll leave with paintings, inspiration, and friendships that continue long after you return home.
